In August 1999 Lajos Csele, Attila Dudás and János Tamási founded the Szekszárd Guitar Trio. Because of loving classical guitar music, we decided to recall all the values that we had experienced during our studies and performances before, so we started playing music together.Since that time we have been rehearsing every week. We have been sharing our accomplishments with the people of Szekszárd, Tolna County, and Hungary at ecclesiastical and non-religious music performances as well since December 1999.
Two years after the foundation, the trio flared into a quartet by András Decsi-Kiss joining us, who makes our concerts more colourful not only by playing the guitar but playing the flute as well. After other two years another change came, János Tamási was replaced by Péter Komjáthy.
The Szekszárd Guitar Quartet and its supporters have been a registered public benefit organization since 18th October 2002.
In 2005 the Town of Szekszárd chose the Guitar Quartet to be an Outstanding Art Group.
Since the foundation of the band's concerts in more than 200.
Our performances usually consist of renaissance, baroque, classical, romantic and contemporary guitar pieces, songs of different nations (e.g. Irish, Scottish, Brazilian and Spanish folk songs) adaptions of ecclesiastical music, popular classical music and our own compositions.
The Guitar Quartet with this wide repertoire and newly interpreting methods fulfil a new requirement of quality, high standard but still entertaining acoustic guitar music, which needs to be made popular.
